It’s been a long time coming, but now it’s official: Tyjani Beztati has announced his retirement from kickboxing in a social media post. The long-reigning GLORY lightweight champion spent 10 years with the promotion, recording notable victories over Kaito, Enriko Kehl, Stoyan Koprivlenski, Josh Jauncey, and Petchpanomrung.
"I'm grateful for the chance GLORY gave me to grow not only as a champion, but as a fighter and as a man. From signing as the youngest fighter in GLORY history at 18, to becoming the first-ever Moroccan champion, the youngest champion at 23, and holding the record for the most wins in GLORY lightweight history it has been an unforgettable journey."

After GLORY’s controversial decision to dissolve its lightweight division, Beztati moved up to welterweight. He challenged for the title twice, coming up short against reigning champion Chico Kwasi in back-to-back draws.
His retirement follows the path of former champions Alex Pereira and Cédric Doumbé, and once again highlights GLORY’s struggle to retain its top names. Active fighters such as Michael Boapeah, Donovan Wisse, and Donegi Abena have all hinted at leaving the promotion in search of new opportunities in MMA or boxing in the near future.
