Dmitry Menshikov has denied any wrongdoing after ONE Championship announced he failed a drug test following his February 14 bout with Tengnueng at ONE Friday Fights 97. The promotion reported that Menshikov tested positive for fonturacetam and furosemide—substances banned under their WADA-aligned anti-doping program—and issued a six-month suspension.
In a statement released through his legal team in Switzerland, Menshikov rejected claims of intentional use, stating he only used doctor-prescribed medication and avoids unverified supplements. He acknowledged the risk of contamination but emphasized his clean record.
His team criticized ONE’s anti-doping system as non-compliant with WADA standards, calling the appeals process “opaque” and “fundamentally unfair.” They advised against pursuing an appeal.
Menshikov, who recently expressed interest in leaving ONE due to inactivity, suggested the timing of the announcement was no coincidence. “I want to reassure fans that I do not, did not, and will not use performance-enhancing substances,” he said.
ONE CHAMPIONSHIP RESPONSE
ONE Championship has dismissed Dmitry Menshikov’s claims about a lack of transparency in its anti-doping process. Since August 2022, sample collection has been managed by the International Doping Tests & Management (IDTM), a global leader in doping control.
Samples are collected by IDTM's experienced officers and sent to WADA-certified labs for analysis. IDTM also works with major organizations like the NBA, NFL, and MLB, ensuring the integrity of the process.
