After KANA had her next title fight announced during a press conference last week, her opponent Amy Pirnie denied having signed a contract. Ultimately an agreement between the two parties couldn't be reached, and K-1 issued a statement, addressing the fight cancellation.
"For this match, K-1 has made a fight offer to Pirnie's camp. After confirming their intention to compete, K-1 proceeded with the procedure for her arrival to Japan. On 25 May, at the press conference, K-1 announced the match as an official fight on the card. However, in the end, we could not reach an agreement with Pirnie's camp regarding the contract, and the fight has been canceled. We sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to this card. Thank you for your understanding.
KANA's opponent is currently being decided. We will inform you as soon as possible."
The K-1 champion also posted an apology, but assured her fans that she will be well prepared for her new opponent.
