On the beach of Varna, Bulgaria – The first heavyweight Grand Prix in SENSHI history delivered on its promise. At just 21 years old, Samet Agdeve emerged as SENSHI 28 Grand Prix champion, overcoming three opponents and turning heads with his finishing power.

Last Saturday on the beach of Saints Constantine and Helena, Bulgaria SENSHI 28 took place under the supervision of K-1 greats Ernesto Hoost, Semmy Schilt, Francisco Filho, Andy Souwer, and Albert Kraus, all of whom served as referees, mentors, and special guests. With Nicholas Pettas being ring announcer, the fighters delivered a spectacular event.

“THE KING” CLAIMS THE THRONE

Samet Agdeve’s road to the final began with dynamite in the Quarterfinal bout against Ali Badawi. “ The King” admitted in front of the cameras that his original plan was to be patient, but after the staredown in the ring the young Turk let it all go resulting in an overhand right finding the jaw of Ali Badawi, his first round opponent. In the Semi-Finals Agdave could show a little more of the patient side of himself. As he waited until the third round against Gerrardo Atti before finishing him off with a right hook. In the tournament decider, Samed Agdeve battered Rhys Brudenell across the rounds, but the Brit’s toughness showed as he battled back in the third round. Resulting in an unanimous decision win for the Turkish fighter.

A THIRD PLACE FIGHT THAT NEVER HAPPENED

One of the things that made the Senshi Grand Prix stand out, the third place bout, was on the schedule but couldn’t take place this time. With Injuries from accumulated damage on the calf in one semi-final and a brutal knock out in the other. The organisation saw no other option but to cancel the fight.

It speaks volumes of how the night was marked by the decisive impact of calf kicks. Several athletes struggled to continue after sustaining heavy damage to the lead leg, resulting in stoppages and fall outs. If not for the spectacular dominant win from Samed Agdeve, the calf kicks would’ve turned into the story of the evening,
