Australian Muay Thai fighter Jayson Tonkin was in critical condition in a Pattaya ICU after being found unconscious next to the deceased body of his friend, UK fighter Joshua Goldstone. We've received an update, confirming that Tonkin is now awake and beginning his road to recovery following the incident.

The two were discovered early Wednesday in a hotel room, where police reportedly found drugs and paraphernalia on a table nearby.

Witnesses report a commotion, with Tonkin, allegedly intoxicated, in a state of panic over Goldstone’s collapse.

Tonkin, nicknamed "The Dingo," is an experienced middleweight fighter who recently opened up about his struggles with substance abuse on a podcast, discussing his battle with drugs, including methamphetamine. He had traveled to Thailand last month for a fight with WBC Muay Thai world middleweight champion Tengnueng Sitjaesairoong, though the match was postponed due to weather.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are considering potential charges for drug possession against Tonkin, which could carry severe penalties under Thai law.
