20,000 fans made their way to the GelreDome in Arnhem, the Netherlands, where they saw 'King of Kickboxing' Rico Verhoeven successfully make his eleventh title defense. In what one could only describe as lackluster, Verhoeven took a one-sided decision over Tariq Osaro. It seemed that the lack of initiative from 'Cookie' gave Verhoeven, who was scoring with jabs and middle kicks, little incentive to do much more than he did.
ABENA VS. TOUCHASSIE
Donegi Abena fought himself to a unanimous decision against late replacement Mohamed Touchassie retaining his Light Heavyweight title. Many had hoped for a fairy tale story as Touchassie moved up weights to become the youngest champion in GLORY history. However even though the young Moroccan stood his ground, he couldn't overcome the weight and power difference.
WISSE VS. BOAHPEAH
In the first of the three title bouts, Donovan Wisse took the win over the young Michael Boapeah. Boapeah came, as expected, with the pressure that characterizes his ARJ Trainingen gym. However, the slick skills of the champion took most of the rounds, even with his back against the ropes. After the third round Boapeah clearly started to run out of gas. Wisse came close to a KO in the last round, scoring even a standing 8 count. But Boapeah refused to go down, ending the fight in a unanimous decision for the defending champion.
UPSETS AND SPECTACLES
It was a night full of surprises. Ulric Bokeme showed he still is the fighter we got to know when he was fighting in Enfusion. With an upset decision victory over fan favorite Serkan Ozcaglayanv. Romania's rising star {Stefan Latescu knocked out Ibrahim El Bouni after getting knocked down himself early in the fight. The card was opened by a lightning fast knockout win of 'El Dentiste' Abraham Vidales against number one ranked Ahmed Chikh-Mousa.
WELTERWEIGHT ACTION
A whopping five Welterweight fights were scheduled on the card. The Moroccan crowd favorite Hamicha, had to go the distance for the first time in 6 years, but managed to secure the victory against Frenchman Diaguely Camara. Chico Kwasi took a razor close decision win over rival Jay Overmeer. And House of Glory standouts Figuereido Landman, Don Sno, and Ismael Ouzgni took their first victory inside the GLORY ring. Ouzgni is the brother of former It’s Showtime -73 KG MAX champion L'houcine Ouzgni, who is training his younger sibling. The family took home an impressive win over No. 5 ranked Welterweight Robin Ciric.
