Yuki Yoza has officially parted ways with K-1, terminating his contract "for now" as he explores his options in free agency. As the reigning K-1 Lightweight champion (–62.5 kg), Yoza has made significant waves within the organization with his dominant performances and flashy fighting style.
“As of October 18, 2024, my contract with K-1 has ended for now. I will consider which ring I will fight in next. Thank you for your continued support!”
While it remains uncertain whether he will re-sign with K-1, his departure raises important questions about the promotion's ability to retain its top talent amid growing competition.
This announcement comes just one month after his knockout victory over former ONE Flyweight Kickboxing champion Petchdam.
Despite his successful tenure, Yoza expressed dissatisfaction with K-1 management and has voiced a desire to challenge top fighters globally, specifically competitors from ONE Championship such as Superlek, Petchtanong, and Jonathan Haggerty.
Yoza's departure follows a series of high-profile bouts, including his victory over Taio Asahisa to claim the lightweight title in March 2023, as well as non-title wins against ranked contenders Kan Nakamura and Kongnapa.
With the majority of Team VASILEUS, namely Takeru and Masaaki Noiri, already competing in ONE Championship, fans speculate that this may also be Yoza's next destination.
