Allycia Rodrigues will make her return to the ONE circle on December 3, the ONE Atomweight titleholder has announced through an Instagram post. Although the Brazilian Muay Thai Champion hasn't revealed her opponent, she will most likely face the interim Champion Janet Todd.
Rodrigues' first title defense will come more than two years after she had won it. The Fortaleza native made her professional debut in 2014 and amassed a 30-5 record before joining the Singapore based promotion, competing both natively in Brazil, as well as in Thailand. She challenged Stamp Fairtex for the title on August 28, 2020, in what was her promotional debut with ONE Championship, and captured the belt through a majority decision. Four months later, Rodrigues fell pregnant and announced she would take a break from the sport.
Her opponent however, has kept busy. Six months before she lost her muay thai title to Rodrigues, Stamp Fairtex lost her Kickboxing belt to Todd. Todd would notch two more non-title wins in the following year, over Alma Juniku and Anne Line Hogstad, before she claimed the interim Atomweight Muay Thai title with a hard-fought five round decision against former ISKA Champion Lara Fernandez in July of this year.
As ONE Championship currently has two events scheduled for December 3, ONE on Prime Video 5 and ONE 164, it's currently unclear on which of these two events Rodrigues will compete.
Another interesting question is who Anissa Meksen will face. The former GLORY Champion has been vocal in calling for a fight with Todd, the current Kickboxing champion, but is yet to receive a chance to fight her. As both the Muay Thai and Kickboxing Champion of her division will be busy fighting each other, Meksen can either sit out and wait for her title shot at either Todd or Rodrigues, or take another fight in the meantime.
