France's best Welterweight kickboxing prospect will face Russia's best Welterweight prospect in ONE Championships' first Lumpinee event of the year, scheduled to take place on January 12.
A savateur by trade, Alexis Nicolas made his switch to kickboxing just under three years ago and has quickly made his way through the French kickboxing scene. A lesser known name to kickboxing fans outside of France, Nicolas is possibly the best fighter to cross over to kickboxing from Savate since Anissa Meksen. A national Savate champion, as well as a youth, junior and senior world Savate champion, the undefeated Mahmoudi Gym product has looked faultless in his appearances so far. During this time, he's built up a dominant 15-fight win streak and at 26 looks primed to make a step-up in competition.
Magomed Magomedov boasts a humbler record of 10-2, but has more notable amateur achievements and has faced the higher caliber of opposition. In the past year alone, Magomedov overcame two-time IFMA World Gold medalist Youssef Assouik on his way to to the 2023 IFMA World Championship silver medal, and was able to beat Aleksandr Dimitrenko and Masoud Minaei in professional bouts.
The event will be free for worldwide viewing on the ONE Championship YouTube channel. Of the fights currently booked for the event, this is definitely the one to see for kickboxing fans.
