Despite stating his intention to retire half a year ago, it seems the itch to fight was just too great for Badr Hari, as the 'Golden Boy' will once again climb into the ring. K-1 legend Badr Hari is scheduled to face James McSweeney in the main event of GLORY 88, which will take place on September 9, in Paris, France. The contest will furthermore serve as a qualifier for the December GLORY Heavyweight Grand Prix.
The Moroccan seeks to get back into the win column, as he is, through one reason or another, winless since 2015. During this time, he's lost four fights and went to a no contest on three separate occasions against the division's elite like Rico Verhoeven, Arkadiusz Wrzosek, and a fellow aged veteran like Alistair Overeem.
McSweeny lost five mixed martial arts fights in that same time-frame, but has won two of the four kickboxing outings he's had in the last four years however, most notably overcoming former ONE Heavyweight title challenger and GLORY Heavyweight tournament runner-up Murat Aygün.
As we've previously stated, Badri Hari is by far the most popular fighter currently signed with GLORY and most kickboxing fans suspected that the promotion would try and find a place in the Grand Prix for the Moroccan. Whether he can make it past McSweeny to earn a place there remains to be seen.
