Mona Kimura is getting the challenge her fans have been waiting for, as she challenges for the belt.
Mona Kimura is stepping into the biggest fight of her career, challenging SAHO for the K-1 WORLD GP Women's Flyweight Championship at 52kg on December 29 at Yokohama BUNTAI in Japan.

SAHO, widely regarded as the best female kickboxer in the world and the sport's pound-for-pound No. 1, enters the contest with a 22-2 record. The 27-year-old captured the K-1 title by defeating Antonia Prifti in March 2024 and has since successfully defended it three times.
Kimura, meanwhile, brings an undefeated 5-0 record, including two knockouts. The 25-year-old has quickly become a viral sensation thanks to her unusual kicking style, earning comparisons to Street Fighter character Chun-Li.
Despite her growing popularity, SAHO has questioned whether Kimura has earned a title opportunity, insisting that fame and championship credentials are two different things.

Kimura has been equally outspoken, dismissing the champion's technique and promising to defeat her with superior skills rather than allowing SAHO to impose her trademark forward pressure.
“Rather than smothering her, I'll shut her out with technique,” Kimura stated.
With an undefeated challenger looking to dethrone the pound-for-pound queen, and plenty of bad blood already brewing, this could be one of the standout matchups at K-1 WORLD MAX 2026.
More Championship Fights Announced
