Kaito Ono Versus Dragomir Petrov Headlines Shootboxing 2024 Act. 4

Aug 08, 2024
Yuki Kasahara and Petchmorakot Superbongym will appear in the co-main event

A year since their first encounter, Kaito is still doggedly pursuing a rematch with GLORY lightweight champion Tyjani Beztati. In his sixth fight since the aforementioned loss, and the fourth of the year, Japan’s best lightweight will face SENSHI lightweight champion and recent GLORY debutante Dragomir Petrov in the main event of Shootboxing 2024 Act. 4 on August 17.

Both fighters will have short turnarounds, as Kaito overcame Arman Hambaryan in June, while Petrov came out triumphant against Bartosz Botwina only a month ago. Another statement victory for Kaito would make a case for the rematch stronger, while a victory over a top-contender such as Kaito could possibly make Petrov a front-runner for the GLORY lightweight title, which might soon be left vacant should champion Tyjani Beztati stick around at welterweight.

The co-main event will see Shootboxing super-featherweight champion Yuki Kasahara face four-weight Lumpinee Stadium champion Petchmorakot Superbongym in a non-title bout. Unlike Kasahara, who is currently on a 7-fight winning streak, Petchmorakot has struggled with losses recently, as he has failed to regain the form he had prior to his stoppage loss at the hands of Suakim PK Saenchaimuaythaigym. As the 32-year old will furthermore be making his kickboxing debut, Kasahara should come in as a heavy favorite.

The event will be broadcast through the sports and entertainment streaming platform U-NEXT, while local fans should purchase tickets through TicketPia
