Floyd Mayweather's first exhibition fight in the UK will be against no other than 'The Hitman' Liam Harrison himself. The two will meet on February 25 at the O2 Arena in London.
37-year-old Liam Harrison has been out nurturing a knee injury, after getting stopped against ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai champion Nong-O in August of last year. The injury needed two surgeries, with Harrison being out until further notice. The fighter has been campaigning and asking ONE Championship for a boxing fight in the meantime. Wish granted, as he's now taking on 'The best ever'. While the fight won't take place under the ONE Championship banner, the promotion is known to leave their athletes some leeway to keep them busy.
Mayweather, who's last competed professionally in 2016 has since kept active taking boxing exhibitions all over the world, fighting against the likes of Tenshin Nasukawa, Logan Paul and Mikuru Asakura. The exact rules of the bout have not been revealed yet.
ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong has since come out and called "fake news" on Mayweather's fight announcement. Liam Harrison hasn't made a comment yet about the whole situation.
