ONE Championship returned to Singapore with ONE Fight Night 8.

ONE Fight Night 8 took place yesterday in Singapore at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The event featured two ONE Championship title fights. Superlek took on short notice replacement Danial Williams, making his first ONE Flyweight Kickboxing title defense. He was originally scheduled to take on Rodtang, but 'The Ironman' dropped out of the fight, just three days before the event due to an undisclosed injury. In the co-main event, Allycia Rodrigues unified the ONE Atomweight Championship title against interim champion Janet Todd.

HIGHLIGHTS

Superlek Kiatmoo9 def. Danial Williams – Out of the gate Danial Williams tried to utilize his movement, using the size of the cage. Superlek adjusted quickly, firing heavy low kicks, one after another. The damage started to add up, and Superlek took over. It was apparent that 'Mini T' had trouble dealing with Superlek's power. Once the Australian started to back-paddle, Superlek's knees came through, landing cleanly. In the third round, Superlek connected with a massive high kick, turned knee - sending Williams crashing to the canvas. On wobbly legs, and barely making the count, Williams had nothing more to offer and was shortly finished after.

After the fight, ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong awarded the champion a $50,000 bonus for his first title defense. Superlek was quick to call out Rodtang, this time under Muay Thai rules. "My next goal will be to challenge Rodtang for his Muay Thai world title. He's the best and I want to take him down."

Allycia Hellen Rodrigues def. Janet Todd – In typical Thai fashion Allycia Rodrigues started the fight in a slow and measured approach, trying to gauge the distance against the more agile Janet Todd. A tactic that might have costed her the two opening rounds, but paid off later. Once Rodrigues, who's been out of the spotlight for almost two years, started to find her groove, she started to connect, walking down Todd, and constantly disrupting her with a heavy jab. Once she closed the distance, she worked elbows and initiated the clinch, where she had the upper hand. As the fight went on, the American challenger seemed perplexed as to how to deal with Rodrigues' relentless pressure. After the fight, a grateful Rodrigues thanked her fans and dedicated her win to all mothers. "This one is for all the moms who had to start over and even with all the difficulties, we always get back on top and come back even stronger."

Zhang Peimian def. Torepchi Dongak – Five months after challenging Jonathan Di Bella for the vacant ONE Kickboxing Strawweight title, the 'Fighting Rooster’ made his way back into the circle. Opposite of him was amateur-standout Torepchi Dongak. The opening round saw the two trading combinations and low kicks at a blistering pace. A pace that Peimian was able to keep up over the full duration of the fight. While Dongak was always wary and ready to counter, he had no real answer for the constant stream of body punches and high volume that the Chinese was throwing his way. The judges agreed, scoring this one a unanimous decision for Zhang Peimian.
