What has been making the rounds for weeks, has finally been confirmed. Rodtang took to social media to announce that he won't be making his way to Japan to take on Takeru due to an injury he suffered. His doctor's note was issued to him on January 3 and reads "Sprain At Thumb".
One has to wonder how long Rodtang has known of his injury, seeing that he wore a brace around his left wrist and thumb since the day of the press conference to initially announce the fight on November 30 as documented by himself on his YouTube channel.
Subbing in for ONE's golden boy will be none other than Superlek. The ONE Flyweight Kickboxing champion will attempt title defense number two against the former K-1 champion. The Thai was supposed to defend his title against Elias Mahmoudi at ONE Fight Night 18 on January 13, but in the spirit all so many other high-profile fights, the main event fell through due to another injury.
A blessing in disguise, seeing that ONE 165 has gained an additional title fight alongside the earlier announced ONE Lightweight Submission Grappling world title rematch between Kade Ruotolo and Tommy Langaker.
