Superlek Injured, Out of Grand Prix Final Against Panpayak at ONE on Prime Video 3

Oct 13, 2022
No Grand Prix luck for ONE Championship.

According to respected Thai media source Muay Siam, Superlek is out of his scheduled fight, the ONE Muay Thai Flyweight Grand Prix final against Panpayak due to an injury he suffered while training. The bout was supposed to take place at ONE on Prime Video 3 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on October 22. ONE Championship had trouble booking fights throughout this whole Grand Prix run, with the biggest stars of the tournament, Rodtang, Jonathan Haggerty, and now Superlek announcing their withdrawal as a consequence of not being medically cleared.

β€œThe Kicking Machine" was recently seen travelling through the United States, holding a seminar tour with other Yokkao Gym members such as Saenchai and Fasai.

Panpayak and Superlek have a long-standing feud, having competed against each other since they were children, with the former leading the rivalry with 4 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw. Both had a lot of momentum going into this fight, scoring highlight-reel knockouts in the semi-finals which took place on ONE's first show on Prime Video, 2 months ago.

It’s unknown at this time if ONE will seek a replacement opponent for Panpayak, but hopes are high that the bout will be rescheduled soon.

Addtionally, Chorfah Tor.Sangtiennoi who was supposed to make his promotional debut is out due to an injury as well. Tagir Khalilov will be replacing him and takes on Denis Puric.
