ONE Friday Fights 22 is shaping up to be the most stacked ONE Friday Fights so far. The newest addition is a Muay Thai match between Superlek Kiatmoo9, the ONE Kickboxing Flyweight champion, and Nabil Anane, the Thai-Algerian phenom.
Superlek last competed at ONE Fight Night 8, when he finished last-minute-replacement Danial Williams with a highlight reel knockout to defend his title. Williams replaced Rodtang Jitmuangnon, who pulled out with an injury on less than a week's notice, prompting calls from fans for the super fight to be rebooked. Superlek has since called for a fight against Rodtang and the newly signed Japanese superstar Takeru. He even flew to the United States as a backup fighter for Rodtang, who missed weight several times before.
But before any super fight could happen, Superlek must make it past the towering Nabil Anane. Making his ONE debut, the 19-year-old Nabil boasts a unique physique, standing at 188 cm while competing as low as 130 lbs. He quickly build up a reputation as a top fighter in the last few years and had a hard time finding suitable opponents. Nabil will hope that the fourth time is a charm, as he was originally slated to make his ONE debut against Panpayak at ONE Friday Fights 9 in March, before Panpayak pulled out of the fight. Panpayak was then replaced by Lamnamoonlek, who also pulled out due to his contract with the Rajadamnern World Series. Nabil was then booked against Lương Thành Phúc at ONE Friday Fights 16 in May but could not get a doctor to clear him to compete.
Also featured on the card, Arjan Bhullar defends his ONE Heavyweight title against Interim champion Anatoly Malykhin. Two former champions collide, as Prajanchai P.K.Saenchai fights Sam-A Gaiyanghadao for the Interim ONE Strawweight Muay Thai Championship.
