China’s leading kickboxing promotion held its’ second event of the year and Beyond Kickboxing was right there to see what was on offering. While a lightweight bout between Luo Chao and Kacper Muszyński was the most anticipated fight, the Pole was forced to withdraw with a back injury, but we nonetheless got an entertaining night of fights.
The pick of the pack was the bout between Meng Gaofeng, who most recently lost to Tomás Aguirre in September, and Yodkhunpon Weerasakreck, who captured the K-1 Super Lightweight title on that very same night.
Despite Yodkhunpon weighing in 0.8 kg over the limit, resulting in an initial 1-point penalty, the fight proceeded as scheduled. Both fighters showcased a competitive back-and-forth, landing numerous high-quality strikes. However, under sustained pressure from Meng Gaofeng, Yodkhunpon increasingly relied on clinching tactics to disrupt the action, prompting the referees to deduct another point for excessive clinching. This double penalty ultimately tilted the judges’ unanimous decision in Meng Gaofeng’s favor, securing him a narrow 28-27 points victory.
