Kickboxing Rankings December 2024 — Jackie Buntan Narrowly Defeats Anissa Meksen to Claim Inaugural ONE Strawweight Championship

We take a look at all the top fighters that were in action during the last month.

As kickboxing continues to grow on a global scale with promotions like GLORY, K-1, ONE Championship, and more, fighters are constantly jockeying for position in the media's eyes, and rankings. Each month, the Beyond Kickboxing board will publish updated rankings for every weight class, from Heavyweight to Flyweight, along with pound-for-pound rankings for both men and women.

No fighter in the top 10 at Pound-For-pound Men, Heavyweight (+95.0 kg), Middleweight (-85.0 kg), Lightweight (-71 kg), and Super Featherweight (67.5 kg) has been active this month.

 


 

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT (-95 KG)

Thian De Vries (8) stopped Peter Verhaegh with low kicks in two rounds to defend his Enfusion 88 kg title.

 


 

WELTERWEIGHT (-77 KG)

Rungrawee (9) lost by knockout to George Jarvis under Muay Thai rules. This doesn't affect his ranking.
 


 

FEATHERWEIGHT (-64 KG)

Zhu Shuai (2 to 3) and Hirotaka Asahisa (7 to 2) took part in a 4-man tournament at Wu Lin Feng 550. In the semifinals Zhu defeated Pinpetch Banchamek by decision after he scored a knockdown in the first round while Asahisa defeated Zhang Jingtao by unanimous decision. Asahisa then defeated Zhu by unanimous decision in the final, scoring a second round high kick knockdown in the process.

Wei Weiyang (9) knocked out Salah Hitou in two rounds with a left hook.

Tomás Aguirre (NR to 10) makes his entry after he defeated reigning Krush champion Tastuya Oiwa by extension round unanimous decision. He overtakes Kongnapa (10 to NR) as the Thai fighter hasn't scored a ranked win in over two and a half years.

 


 

SUPER BANTAMWEIGHT (-61 KG)

Rémi Parra (6) won La Nuit des Champions 4-man -64.5 kg tournament. He defeated Lorenzo Sammartino in the semifinals and Aitor Ibanez in the final, both by unanimous decision.

 


 

BANTAMWEIGHT (-58 KG)

Akif Guluzada (5) defeated Samingdam by first-round knockout under Muay Thai rules at 61 kg. This doesn’t affect his ranking.
 


 

SUPER FLYWEIGHT (-55 KG)

Koki Osaki (5) defeated Huo Xialong by unanimous decision after scoring a knockdown at 56.7 kg. A strong showing for the reigning RISE bantamweight champion.

Kumandoi (4) defeated Jomhod by unanimous decision under muay thai rules at 52 kg. This doesn’t affect his ranking.

 


 

WOMEN'S POUND-FOR-POUND

Jackie Buntan (NR to 8) makes her entry to the pound-for-pound rankings after defeating Anissa Meksen by unanimous decision for the inaugural ONE 56.7 kg title. Despite it being her kickboxing debut, the Filipino-American showcased her qualities against a seasoned veteran. Although the Filipino-American fighter initially struggled to adjust to the new ruleset, repeatedly catching kicks and clinching early in the fight, she delivered the more decisive moments when it mattered most.

Clara Pennequin (NR to 10) makes her entry. She's the reigning Enfusion Bantamweight (-61 kg) champion.

Nina Van Dalum (2) defeated Charly Glaser by unanimous decision. She overtakes Li Mingrui (3) who has been inactive for 10 months.

Jackie Buntan (NR to 2) makes her entry after defeating Anissa Meksen by unanimous decision for the inaugural ONE 56.7 kg title.
 


 

WOMEN'S FLYWEIGHT (-53.5 KG)

Anissa Meksen (2 to 4) lost by unanimous decision to Jackie Buntan for the inaugural 56.7 kg title. She goes down two spots after going winless in the division under kickboxing rules for three years.

Yun Toshima (10) makes her entry, she defeated Wang Chin Long by extension round majority decision.

Kira Matsutani (3) stopped Gabrielle De Ramos with a knee to the body in the first round

Mako Yamada (8 to NR) leaves the rankings after 18 months of inactivity. 

Runa Okumura (10) makes her entry.

Fu Sakata (8) lost by unanimous decision to Islay Erika Bomogao under Muay Thai rules. This doesn't affect her ranking.
