Regian Eersel will face the toughest challenge of his professional career this June.
The two-sport ONE Championship titlist will attempt to defend his ONE Muay Thai Lightweight belt for the second time, against former GLORY top contender Dmitry Menshikov in the main event of ONE Fight Night 11 on June 11. The event will go down in Bangkok, Thailand at the Lumpinee Stadium.
'The Immortal' has been perfect in nine ONE outings, eight of which have been title fights, with his breakout performances being a pair of victories over Dutch legend Nieky Holzen three years ago. As highly regarded as he was however, the 35-year-old had slightly aged out of his prime at that point, while Menshikov will enter the fight as one of the top Welterweights in the world.
In fact, had GLORY not released all of their Russian fighters in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Menshikov would likely have been the man to fight Alim Nabiev for the vacant championship. The Russian is currently on an eleven-fight win streak, with almost every triumph being more or less dominant.
Beyond Kickboxing has reached out to Menshikov, and he confirmed that his contract will include both Muay Thai and kickboxing fights.
The event will be broadcast on Amazon Prime in the United States and Canada, while the rest of the world will be able to watch the event on the ONE Championship YouTube channel.
