Amid ongoing legal issues linking Jamal Ben Saddik to kidnapping and drug trafficking, as well as a 6-month suspension for inciting violence at the GLORY Heavyweight Grand Prix, the Moroccan kickboxer now faces an additional suspension after testing positive for the illegal use of performance-enhancing drugs. This marks his fourth overall suspension and third related to steroid use during his GLORY tenure.
GLORY has suspended Jamal Ben Saddik for 10 months following a violation of their Anti-Doping Rules. A sample collected from Ben Saddik during out-of-competition testing on February 19, 2024, tested positive for clomiphene and its metabolite, substances classified as Hormone and Metabolic Modulators on the WADA Prohibited List, which GLORY follows.
The sample was analyzed by a WADA-accredited laboratory. The case was reviewed by an independent Anti-Doping Committee, which decided to reduce the default 12-month suspension after Ben Saddik provided evidence of a valid prescription for clomiphene to treat symptoms, with use occurring before the new rules came into effect in January 2024.
Ben Saddik’s suspension started on March 6, 2024, when a provisional ban was placed. He will be eligible to return to competition on January 6, 2025.
