The Chinese promotion is putting together an early Event of the Year contender.

Wu Lin Feng, China's leading kickboxing promotion, will hold their first event of the year on January 27. The seven announced bouts, which will be featured at the '12th Global Kung Fu Festival', will see a current or former K-1 or Wu Lin Feng champion appear in nearly every single fight of the evening.

In the main event of the evening, the world's eighth-best Super Featherweight Jia Aoqi will face seventh-best David Mejia for the vacant Wu Lin Feng -67 KG championship.

The bout will be a rematch of their 'Wu Lin Feng 539' meeting, which took place on June 23 and saw Mejia come away the victor by decision. This win extended the Colombian's streak to four consecutive triumphs and earned him the chance to challenge Petpanomrung Kiatmoo9 for the GLORY Featherweight championship, although he eventually came up short against the Thai. Aoqi, on the other hand, will attempt to avenge his first loss in two years, which snapped his six-fight undefeated streak.

K-1 Super Welterweight (-70 KG) champion Ouyang Feng is scheduled to face former GLORY Lightweight (-70 KG) champion Davit Kiria on the undercard.

Feng has long established himself as the preeminent lightweight in China, with victories over the likes of Luo Chao and Han Wenbao, while overcoming Anatoly Moiseev and Hiromi Wajima allowed him to step up to the world level. Kiria will represent another such step up, although the 35-year old is just five months removed from his loss to Tawanchai – which left him with a broken right arm. A healthy Kiria would certainly be Feng's most notable opponent yet.

The two above-mentioned bouts aside, the undercard is likewise filled with interesting and well-matched contests. A pair of pound-for-pound ranked women, K-1 Openweight Grand Prix winner Liu Ce will take on Sebastian Lutaniuc for the vacant ISKA K-1 World -95kg title, while other notable names such as Hirotaka Asahisa, Daniel Puertas and Petchdam are also expected to make an appearance at the event.

With seven fights announced so far, the card is a must see for kickboxing fans. Especially as it will be broadcast for free worldwide on Henan TV.
