K-1 Set To Host Historic Qualifying Tournament in Brazil

The South American K-1 World GP tournament will be hosted in Brasilia on August 24 at the Nilson Nelson Gymnasium.

K-1 World GP is set to host the South American portion of their international tournament in the Brazilian capital city, Brasilia. With a change to the city and date, K-1 recently offered an update for its 8-man Grand Prix.

The Japanese kickboxing organization K-1 World GP is set to host a major year-end Grand Prix. This event will feature K-1 division and Grand Prix champions both current and former. Additionally, the kickboxing promotion has been hosting international tournaments. The winners of each Grand Prix will be placed in the year-end tournament hosted in Tokyo. 

Serbia's Milos Cvjeticanin was able to capture the Eastern European brackets, with an event hosted in Sarajevo. On July 27, the Western Europe qualification tournament will be hosted in Italy. 

The South American tournament will be hosted in Brasilia on August 24 at the Nilson Nelson Gymnasium. With a capacity of 10,000 people, this fight card will be one of the biggest kickboxing events in the history of Brazil. It is also working in tandem with the Brazilian Ministry of Sports and the promoter WGP Kickboxing.

Four heavyweight strikers are confirmed to compete, while the other four are yet to be announced. Confirmed thus far is Ariel Machado, Anderson Silva, Haime Morais, and Guto Inocente. Inocente, Silva. and Machado were all top-ranked competitors in ONE Championship and title contenders in GLORY Kickboxing.

International tournaments to crown continental champions, the champions will then advance to the year-end one-night Grand Prix in December. The Brazilian event thus far is well stacked, it is booked for August 24 from Brasilia.
