ONE Friday Fights 9 Results: Regian Eersel Lands Devastating Liver Shot to Defend His ONE Lightweight Muay Thai Title Against Sinsamut

It was another great night at Lumpinee Stadium for ONE Championship with a plethora of knockouts.

ONE Championship returned to Bangkok, Thailand for their weekly show! In the most stacked Lumpinee Stadium card since their inaugural show, Regian Eersel took on Sinsamut Klinmee for the ONE Lightweight Muay Thai Championship. In the co-main event, Kulabdam fought Muangthai for the fourth time.

 

HIGHLIGHTS

Regian Eersel def. Sinsamut Klinmee – The two-sport world champion scored a big comeback win, after being down on the scorecards. The two came out much more aggresive than in their first fight! In the opening round, opened with heavy leg kicks, then followed with right straights that pushed Eersel back. Sinsamut continued to score with leg kicks, while the champion looked to score with punches. Two closely contested opening rounds! Sinsamut continued his frantic pace in the following round. In the championship round, both fighters continued to trade, but it was Sinsamut that visibly started to slow down. Suddenly, Eersel put Sinsamut down with a brutal left hook to the body. Sinsamut was counted out and the Surinamese champion retained his title on enemy turf, earning himself a $50,000 bonus.

Kulabdam Sor.Jor.Piek-U-Thai def. Muangthai P.K.Saenchai – The 'Elbow Zombie' lived up to his name, coming out on top in his fourth meeting with Kulabdam. Kulabdam started strong, coming out firing with punches and elbows, forcing Muangthai to clinch. The two went to war, showcasing their strongest weapons but it was Kulabdam that seemed to be have the upper hand. As the fight went on, Muangthai found his rythm, and started to find the range to fire of his trademark elbows. As the momentum began to swing, Muangthai sent Kulabdam to sleep with a picture perfect right elbow. 

Sam-A Gaiyanghadao def. Ryan Sheehan – The former two-division ONE Muay Thai and ONE Kickboxing Champion shined in his return. The 39-year-old fighter continued to showcase his experience, catching Sheehan’s strikes and landing left straights, left elbows, and left kicks. After dropping Sheehan twice, he ultimately countered Ryan’s right straight and dropped him with another left straight at the end of the second round, ending the fight, and earning himself $10,000 bonus.

Petjeeja Or.Meekun def. Fani Peloumpi – One of the best female Muay Thai fighters arrived at ONE Championship, showcasing her boxing skills after her time in the Thai national boxing team. The fight started off slowly in the first round. Petjeeja opened with teeps to Peloumpi’s body. Peloumpi looked to score with hooks as Petjeeja's closed the distance. The 38-year-old veteran tied up the Thai, as she moved in. Petjeeja continued to stalk Peloumpi into corners, looking to land shots to the body. In the second round, Phetjee Jaa landed a left hook early. She continued to push Fani to the rope and landed brutal hooks to the body, forcing a standing count. She followed up with a flying knee, then countered Peloumpi with a body shot that ended the fight.

Sulaiman Looksuan def. Chaongoh Jitmuangnon – In the first round, the debuting Myanmar fighter scored big, countered effectively with punches in the first round, and tested Chaongoh’s chin early. Chaongoh looked puzzled by Sulaiman’s shots and struggled to land his strikes. In the second round, Chaongoh came out swinging wild hooks, but Sulaiman dropped him with a jab. The more composed Sulaiman continued to counter well and tied Chaongoh when he closed the distance with clinches. Taking advantage of the stunned Thai, Sulaiman dropped him with a clean straight right straight for a knockout win and THB 350,000 bonus. In an emotional post-fight interview, Sulaiman said that he would use his bonus to help his hospitalized father.

Seksan Or. Kwanmuang def. Silviu Vitez – 'The Man Who Yields to No One' was once again part of a must-watch back-and-forth brawl. After taking punishment from Silviu’s leg kicks in the first round, Seksan came back strong in later rounds. Both fighters traded all weapons of Muay Thai with Saeksan edging out a win. The war earned both fighters a well-deserved bonus of $10,000 each.
