Prajanchai was supposed to face now-former ONE Strawweight Kickboxing champion Jonathan Di Bella on April 5th. The day before the fight, despite making weight, the Italian-Canadian fighter failed to meet the required hydration level. He looked drained and soon after was hospitalized and put on IV. Things took a turn for the worse for the champion as he was stripped of his title while Di Bella's team flew back to Montreal and ONE President Chatri Sityodtong looked to schedule the fight for another date.
ONE had offered Di Bella the same fight less than a month after his initial weight miss, but it was too fast a turnaround so the fight was moved to June 28, Chatri Sityodtong revealed in an Interview with Sportskeeda's Nicolas Atkin.
At 29 years of age, Prajanchai has won major titles in four weight classes at both the Lumpinee and Rajadamnern Stadiums. Aside from a rough patch in 2016, the prolific Nak Muay has been at the top of the Muay Thai world for twelve years as one of the most consistent top fighters in the modern era of the sport. Last December, Prajanchai avenged a bitter and embarrassing loss against Italian Joseph Lasiri with an impressive first-round stoppage.
On the other side, the former ONE Kickboxing Champion risks his undefeated professional record of 12-0. At 27, Jonathan Di Bella had been relatively unknown before he defeated the then-18-year-old prodigy Zhang Peimian in late 2022 for the ONE Kickboxing title in his ONE Championship debut. Before the fight, many did not give him a chance to defeat Peimian but he shocked the spectators as he put on a clinic. In June he will have a chance to do just that again and regain his championship belt.
